Abigaile-Bourbon Vanilla Porter

Drank this beer at BAM Fest 2012 Santa Monica, CA

As a porter it fits in well with the rest of the porters. I was not completely taken aback by it but over all good beer.

This Porter is made with brown sugar, vanilla beans and aged in charred oak barrels.

Aroma: You can smell the oak barrel notes, slight vanilla notes, but the roasted malts are very pronounced

Taste: Strong roasted malt flavor through out the drink followed by subtle notes of vanilla. The vanilla is fairly faint and not as strong as I expected. Other than that it really tasted like the usual porter

Color: Color of the beer is dark and pours on with about a finger’s size head.

Overall: I liked the beer very much, but I do wish the vanilla been was more pronounced, and could not taste the oak barrel flavor.
