Acme IPA – North Coast Brewing, California

Focusing on an IPA and two Belgian Style ales (Pranqster Belgian Style Golden Ale on tap and bottles of Brother Thelonious Belgian Style Abey Ale), North Coast really knew the way to my hear at this year’s BAM Festival. Pranqster has become my regular go-to at a local trivia night so we’ll discuss it later.

At BAM, I focused on the Acme IPA as I’d never had it before. This IPA was a good light IPA that Bryan and I decided was the first IPA we’ve had that made us feel like it was more than appropriate for a hot day. Usually when the Cali sun is shining and temps are in the 90s you want something mellow and refreshing and most IPAs don’t hit the spot. Acme fills that void. The flavor is light with a subtle hoppiness that makes it another good option for those who tend to fear the standard IPA. This is a beer I will surely be keeping in my back pocket to quench my thirst at those sweltering tailgates and BBQs without sacrificing the aspects of an IPA that I love.
